What can we do to fill the holes in our community that will replenish our economy?

I ask you, citizens of Horry County and South Carolina, what is happening to our community? What is being done to improve our lives? What I see is a large number of holes in our community. Only memories stand where tourist, and locals alike, gathered to shop, dine and play together. Where good times were had by all. These holes are only growing in numbers and nothing is replacing the emptiness, leading to a failing economic structure for the Grand Strand and entire state of South Carolina.

This is just one example:

December 1973 construction began to the first mall in Myrtle Beach, named Myrtle Square Mall, which was designed by Nelson Benzing Design Associates.

On December 22, 2005 Demolition began on Myrtle Square Mall. In 2006 Demolition is completed on Myrtle Square Mall; the land remains vacant to this day.

This was part of a plan, which did expand, but look where we are now. We have digressed, not progressed. We must rebuild our city. It is necessary to fill these empty holes! Only we, the people, can make this happen.
